Octameter \Oc*tam"e*ter\, n. [Cf.L. octameter in eight feet. See
   Octa-, and meter.] (Pros.)
   A verse containing eight feet; as, 

         Deep[bprime] in|to[bprime] the | dark[bprime]ness |
         peer[bprime]ing, | long[bprime] I | stood[bprime] there
         | wond'[bprime]ring, | fear[bprime]ing.  --Poe.
