Quadragene \Quad"ra*gene\, n. [LL. quadragena, fr. L. quadrageni
   forty each, akin to quadraginta forty.] (R. C. Ch.)
   An indulgence of forty days, corresponding to the forty days
   of ancient canonical penance.
