Souari nut \Sou*a"ri nut`\ (Bot.) The large edible nutlike seed of a tall tropical American tree (Caryocar nuciferum) of the same natural order with the tea plant; -- also called butternut. [Written also sawarra nut.] [1913 Webster] .
