Clematis \Clem"a*tis\ (kl[e^]m"[.a]*t[i^]s), n. [NL., fr. Gr. klhmati`s brushwood, also (from its long, lithe branches) clematis. fr. klh^ma twig, shoot, fr. kla^n to break off.] (Bot.)
