   cl[=ae]fre; akin to LG. & Dan. klever, D. klaver, G. klee,

   A plant of different species of the genus Trifolium; as the
   common red clover, Trifolium pratense, the white,
   Trifolium repens, and the hare's foot, Trifolium arvense.
