Gymnosperm \Gym"no*sperm\ (j[i^]m"n[-o]*sp[~e]rm), n. (Bot.)
   A plant that bears naked seeds (i. e., seeds not inclosed in
   an ovary), as the common pine and hemlock. Cf. Angiosperm.
