Myrica \My*ri"ca\, prop. n. [L., fr. Gr. ? tamarisk.] (Bot.)
   A widely dispersed genus of shrubs and trees, usually with
   aromatic foliage. It includes the bayberry or wax myrtle, the
   sweet gale, and the North American sweet fern, so called.
