Umbelliferous \Um`bel*lif"er*ous\, a. [Umbel + -ferous: cf. F.
   ombellif[`e]re.] (Bot.)
   (a) Producing umbels.
   (b) Of or pertaining to a natural order (Umbelliferae) of
       plants, of which the parsley, carrot, parsnip, and fennel
       are well-known examples.
