Acyclic \A*cyc"lic\, a. [Pref. a- not + cyclic.]
   Not cyclic; not disposed in cycles or whorls; as:
   (a) (Bot.) Of a flower, having its parts inserted spirally on
       the receptacle.
   (b) (Org. Chem.) Having an open-chain structure; aliphatic.
