Vinyl \Vi"nyl\, n. [L. vinum wine + -yl.] (Chem.) The hypothetical radical C2H3, regarded as the characteristic residue of ethylene and that related series of unsaturated hydrocarbons with which the allyl compounds are homologous. [1913 Webster] .
